Avez-vous déjà vu des animaux sauvages ?
I’ve seen quite a number of underwhelming wild animals. By wild animals, I mean : untended by man, fending for themselves. Doing their thing in the world however they can.
So, I’ve seen :
- crows scavenging the neighbourhood bins.
- And gangs of tough looking pigeons around bakeries. Yes, I’m counting pigeons. They’re underated. They used to be domesticated, you know, until they were abandonned and forced back into wilderness.
- I’ve seen clever little mice scuttling by in the metro.
- I’ve seen wasps and bees trying to steal from my pic nic.
- I’ve seen bewildered moths, flying around my wardrobe, wondering where the window is.
- I’ve seen mosquitoes deciding to start a war with my elbow.
- I’ve seen a little spider, biting my hand, because it was on its tree, and therefore, annoying.
- I’ve seen seagulls, and I’ve learned that they were thieves.
The world is full of wilderness. Wilderness that adapts to wild places being scarce. Wilderness that makes do with us being us. Wilderness that we often call : nuisance. It’s not meant to be cute, not meant to be majestic, and it’s sure as hell not meant to be convenient.
