Sober Bubbles

My experience with celebrities is limited. I tried to actively reach out to maybe two of them, in my life (letters), and had no answer. And I saw two others just passing by, in the streets. And I didn’t try to talk to them.

Hot take : a celebrity is a person, who s often quite busy, and who probably does enjoy their success, while wondering what is all the fuss about them.

There is this thing called ego (obviously), but as i try to put myself in their shoes, my guess is : being a celebrity is weird. It must be weird to be stopped by people you don’t know when you try to go from one place to the next. Weird (and scary) to have mobs gather when you’re somewhere, especially when the mobs are agitated. Weird to have people worship you like a godhead, when you just did your job, and go to the privy like everyone else. Weird to have people cry on you, trauma dump on you, obsess about your personal life, and have the strangest, creepiest expectations.

I don’t know. I’m guessing many grow narcissistic, of course, if they’re not well surrounded, and well grounded. Or if they were narcissistic in the first place. I’m also guessing many grow defensive, or make up a persona to protect themselves.

So, perhaps, some are just plain mean and entitled, yes. Others might well have mental health issues, or be under pressure, or be scared, or be tired. I don’t hate on people without trying to understand.
